RSE PSHE
Our aim is to equip children to live healthy, safe, productive, capable, responsible and balanced lives. It contributes to personal development by helping pupils to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem, and to identify and manage risk, make informed choice and understand what influences their decisions. It enables them to recognise, accept and shape their identities, to understand and accommodate difference and change, to manage emotions and to communicate constructively in a variety of settings. To develop an understanding of themselves, empathy and the ability to work with others, will help pupils to form and maintain good relationships, develop the essential skills for their futures and better enjoy and manage their lives.
Following nationwide consultation, The Department for Education has made changes to Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) which came into effect from September 2020 and all schools are required to comply with the updated requirements. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools have been given additional time to implement and to consult with families around the curriculum that they will be using in school and launch the RHE elements of the new curriculum in the next academic year; 2021-2022.
In light of the guidance, we have reviewed our PSHE (including RHE & RSE) curriculum and policy so we can be sure our provision is appropriate for our pupils based on their:
- Age and maturity levels, as well as their cultural and religious backgrounds
- Physical and emotional maturity
- The values of our school community
- Every pupil’s learning needs
Please take some time to view the policy, the Intent, Implementation and Impact document and DfE guidance before completing the contact form. Thank you for taking the time to read this information and we look forward to your responses.
